Mike Lin wears many hats as the Owner and President of Sonic Blinds, the only full-scale custom blind fabricator in Western New York. A Brown University graduate with a degree in economics, Mike didn’t always envision himself running a window treatment business. After a successful career in financial services, he traded spreadsheets for shades and discovered a passion for creating spaces that combine beauty and functionality.

Since purchasing Sonic Blinds 30 years ago, Mike has transformed the company into a premier provider of custom blinds, draperies, shades, and shutters. Today, Sonic Blinds operates from a suburban location that houses its showroom, offices, and factory, allowing the team to serve both residential and commercial clients with hands-on expertise and exceptional service.

Mike’s knack for blending business savvy with a personal touch hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2010, he was inducted into the Exciting Windows! Hall of Fame, earning recognition as the only member to be named the top sales leader in managed business for three separate years. He has also mentored industry professionals across the country as Chairman of the Exciting Windows! National Advisory Council. “It’s been amazing to show that a Buffalo-based business can compete with the big cities,” Mike says. “Bringing that award back home was definitely a proud moment.”

When he’s not leading his team or juggling business operations, Mike is the kind of guy who finds joy in seeing his work make a real difference in people’s lives.
